Move & Forget — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how data is handled when you install and use Move & Forget.

By installing or using the app, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy.

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers data handling for the Move & Forget macOS application distributed directly by RockStarUI.

Move & Forget is a local file management tool. It does not transmit your files, file metadata, or transfer results to any server operated by RockStarUI.

2. Data processed locally on your device

All core app operations run entirely on your Mac:

File discovery and extension matching on connected volumes
File copying and moving between source drives and destination folders
SHA-256 checksum computation and verification
Transfer result aggregation and summary generation
Log file writing to a user-selected local folder

None of this data leaves your device as part of the app’s core functionality.

3. Data we do not collect

RockStarUI does not collect, access, or transmit:

The content of any files transferred by the app
File names, paths, or metadata from your transfers
Volume names or drive identifiers
Transfer results, error messages, or log content
Your rule configurations or destination folder choices
Location data
Usage analytics or telemetry

4. Settings and preferences storage

App settings — including transfer rules, ignored volume lists, log folder preferences, and billing configuration — are stored in macOS UserDefaults on your local device.

Folder access permissions are stored as macOS security-scoped bookmarks, also locally. No settings data is synced to cloud services by the app.

5. Billing and payment data

Subscription purchases are processed entirely by third-party payment providers (Stripe or Gumroad depending on your build). Move & Forget does not process, store, or transmit payment card data.

When you click Subscribe or Manage Billing, you are directed to the payment provider’s hosted page in your browser. The provider’s own privacy policy governs data collected during checkout.

6. Log files

If you enable log saving in Settings, the app writes plain-text log files to a local folder you choose. These files contain transfer timestamps, file counts, and error or notice summaries.

Log files are stored only on your device in the folder you select. They are not transmitted to RockStarUI.

7. Crash and diagnostic data

The app does not include a built-in crash reporter or analytics SDK. If you submit a support request, you may choose to share system logs or diagnostic information at your discretion.

8. Third-party services

The app integrates with the following external services in limited contexts:

Stripe: subscription billing for Stripe direct builds
Gumroad: checkout and delivery for Gumroad direct builds
macOS APIs: local system frameworks used for normal app operation

9. Data retention

Since RockStarUI does not collect personal data through the app, there is no server-side data to retain or delete.

Local app data (settings, bookmarks, log files) can be removed at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing local app data.

10. Security

All folder access uses macOS security-scoped bookmarks, which limit the app to only directories you authorize.

File integrity during Transfer mode is protected by SHA-256 verification before any source deletion occurs.

11. Children

Move & Forget is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance. The current policy is available at /docs/move-and-forget/privacy-policy/.
