What this section does
Section titled “What this section does”This glossary defines the core terms used across Move & Forget setup, transfer, and support documentation.
A configured job that defines source, file type filter, destination, action, and optional rename prefix.
Source mode
Section titled “Source mode”The source selector in a rule. Options: Any removable drive, Selected drive, Selected folder.
Any removable drive
Section titled “Any removable drive”Runs a rule against all eligible removable drives mounted at run time.
Selected drive
Section titled “Selected drive”Runs a rule against one specific drive identified by UUID, display name, and bookmark fallback.
Selected folder
Section titled “Selected folder”Runs a rule against one chosen folder path.
File type filter
Section titled “File type filter”Extension filter that controls which files are eligible for transfer.
Destination
Section titled “Destination”Folder where matching files are written.
Copies file to destination and keeps source unchanged.
Transfer
Section titled “Transfer”Copies file, verifies checksum, then deletes source only when verification succeeds.
SHA-256 verification
Section titled “SHA-256 verification”Integrity check comparing source and destination hashes.
Rename prefix
Section titled “Rename prefix”Optional text prepended to output filenames.
Ingest summary
Section titled “Ingest summary”Post-run summary with completed count, errors, and notices.
A transfer issue that blocked an expected operation.
Notice
Section titled “Notice”Informational run output, such as no matching files on a drive.
Removable drive
Section titled “Removable drive”A volume that qualifies under app detection logic for transfer eligibility.
Ignored volume
Section titled “Ignored volume”A volume explicitly excluded from transfer processing.
Hidden volume
Section titled “Hidden volume”A volume hidden from settings visibility without necessarily changing transfer behavior.
Security-scoped bookmark
Section titled “Security-scoped bookmark”macOS permission token that preserves access to selected folders/drives across launches.
Volume UUID
Section titled “Volume UUID”Primary identifier used to rematch selected drives when remounted.
Log file
Section titled “Log file”Optional local .txt output that records run summary details.
Menu bar
Section titled “Menu bar”Persistent macOS status item for quick run control and progress visibility.
Popover
Section titled “Popover”Compact panel from menu bar showing active progress or latest completion summary.
Direct build
Section titled “Direct build”Non-App-Store distribution build using direct billing providers.
Stripe
Section titled “Stripe”External billing platform used in Stripe-configured builds.
Gumroad
Section titled “Gumroad”External billing platform used in Gumroad-configured builds.
Terms and Conditions
Section titled “Terms and Conditions”Required legal agreement shown on first launch before transfers can run.
