Rules Setup
What this section does
Section titled “What this section does”Rules define which files are processed, from where, and how they are written to destination folders.
How to set it up
Section titled “How to set it up”- Click Add Rule in the main window.
- Set Source mode.
- Select a File type filter.
- Choose a destination in To.
- Choose Copy or Transfer action.
- Optionally enable Rename and set a prefix.
- Keep Run enabled for rules you want included.
Rule fields
Section titled “Rule fields”Run toggle
Section titled “Run toggle”- Enables or disables a rule for the next run.
- Disabled rules are skipped.
Source
Section titled “Source”- Any removable drive: Runs on all eligible removable volumes.
- Selected drive: Runs on one chosen drive.
- Selected folder: Runs on one chosen folder location.
File type
Section titled “File type”- All media
- JPG (
.jpg,.jpeg) - RAW (common camera RAW formats)
- Video (common video container formats)
To (destination)
Section titled “To (destination)”- Required for every enabled rule.
- Stored using a security-scoped bookmark so it persists across app restarts.
Action
Section titled “Action”- Copy: Leaves source files untouched.
- Transfer: Deletes source only after checksum verification succeeds.
Rename
Section titled “Rename”- Optional prefix prepended to the original filename.
:,/, and\\are stripped automatically from the prefix.
Rule card actions
Section titled “Rule card actions”- Duplicate: Copies a rule and inserts it directly below the original.
- Remove: Deletes a rule. If last rule is removed, a new default rule is created.
Run-time validation
Section titled “Run-time validation”A run will not start if:
- no enabled rules exist,
- any enabled rule has no destination,
- selected-drive or selected-folder rules are missing a source.
Drive matching for selected drives
Section titled “Drive matching for selected drives”Resolution priority:
- Volume UUID
- Display name (case-insensitive)
- Security-scoped bookmark fallback
If selected drive is not mounted at run time, the run summary reports that condition.
- Start with one test rule and Copy mode to verify your workflow.
- Keep rule names/patterns simple to reduce rename mistakes.
Can I run multiple rules in one pass?
Section titled “Can I run multiple rules in one pass?”Yes. All enabled rules are processed during a single run.
What happens if two files share a filename at destination?
Section titled “What happens if two files share a filename at destination?”A numeric suffix is added automatically to avoid overwrite.
